Phil Banko's interest in photography began in a Hawaiian middle school when he discovered that his English teacher would actually accept a report comprised mostly of photographs instead of words. A career was born! That initial interest in the power of photographic imagery to convey a message (remember "A picture is worth a thousand words"?) led to a successful career in commercial photography which still continues.
A number of years ago while visiting Montana with his beloved wife, he spotted a heart-shaped rock in a lake and waded out to photograph it. With his wife napping on the shore and blissfully unaware of what he was doing, it occured to him it might make a wonderful Valentine's Day gift. She is CRAZY about anything in a heart shape. Her gleeful reaction to that gift (remember "A picture is worth a thousand words"!) inspired him to produce a different heart rock photograph for her every year. And a new career was born!
